What is in it
- Parties, scope and a reference to the estimate it is built from
- Payment schedule — deposit, progress and balance, with amounts and triggers
- Change-order clause requiring written agreement before extra work
- Delay and weather provisions
- Warranty period and what voids it
- Cancellation and refund terms
- Signature blocks for both parties, with a date
- Pre-filled roofing line items: Tear-off, existing layers (per square), Architectural shingles, installed (per square), Decking replacement (as needed) (per sheet), Ice-and-water shield at eaves and valleys (per linear foot), Ridge vent (per linear foot), Pipe boot and flashing (per each)
Why a roofer needs their own version
Tear-off, decking, underlayment and shingles, usually against weather.
- Insurance work and retail work are two different documents, and sending the retail one to an adjuster costs you the supplement.
- A deposit before material drop is normal in the trade and awkward to ask for over the phone.
- Decking replacement is a per-sheet unknown at quote time, and the contract has to say so in a way that holds up.
Priced the way you price
A generic template makes you type the unit every time. This one already knows a roofer quotes in these:
This is a starting point, not legal advice. Contract law is a state matter and the terms that hold up in Tennessee are not the terms that hold up in California. Have a lawyer in your state read yours before you send it to a customer — once, and then it is done.
Or stop filling in templates
Relayhand builds the contract from the job, sends it, gets it signed on the customer’s phone and takes the deposit. Same document, none of the retyping.
